it has all the appearance
of a bonzai mountain -
a moss covered boulder.
topography it would take
hours, even days to walk through,
the eye brushes over unimpeded
in a single glance.
it pauses to stroke the details of contour
and lingers lovingly over each gully and ridge.
I swear I can feel the relief with my fingertips:
it's as if I were fondling the cracks and clefts
in the granite paperweight on my desk.
