The world of politics presupposes a conflict of agendas. Contrast this battle of wills with the mystic approach, above all grounded in a unifying vision of wholeness, oneness. Under the taint of politics, art becomes a brand; science is superseded by institution; spirituality replaced by religion. The mystic view, without agenda, takes refuge in observation, witness. What gets in the way can be attributed to ego, materialism, dualism.
Can there be such a thing as mystic politics, or is that an oxymoron, a contradiction in terms?
The tradition of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), which inspired a wave of nonviolent activism in the 1960s and beyond, shows a way forward through consensus facilitation. After the Sunday Meeting for Worship, business is conducted carrying forward the same spirit: the “Meeting for Worship for Business.” The role of the facilitator is key in the determination and carrying out of an agenda for the meeting, as well as helping to identify and articulate whatever agenda for further action may arise from the group. By this process spiritual power is harnessed, embodied in group will to engage in real-world politics. Quakers are well known, for example, for their public advocacy of peace, indigenous causes, and humane treatment of prisoners.
The secular model may not carry the same unified grounding in spiritual understanding, but facilitation of other public groups can be similarly effective when the role is free of personal agenda and fixed rather on observation of the group’s direction. In cases where there is a conflict of interest, the facilitator “stands aside” for that discussion, similar to recusal in the legal system.
Becoming Human
Replacing agenda with observation recalls the Indigenous wisdom of John Trudell, who expresses (in “Becoming Human”) the preference to replace fixed belief with more open-ended thinking. In that more neutral space we can observe of ourselves more clearly what we know and admit what we don’t know. We can come to recognize, appreciate, and exercise our “native” human intelligence.
Becoming human—again—we can reclaim the integrity of our common sense, as opposed to our slavish reliance on so-called experts.

Becoming more, not less human, we can reject meanwhile the prostituted language of the global technocrats, who obfuscate their visions of global dominion and depopulation with flowery platitudes and smokescreens of banality. Returning to the theme of politics, we can see that whereas different languages describe the same human meaning using different sets of words, politics assumes different meanings for the trigger words of a given language. At its Orwellian extreme, contemporary political doublespeak completely inverts the meaning: “War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.”
In today’s reigning idiocracy, no word is safe from being weaponized in service of a fake consensus: freedom, democracy, human rights, equality, diversity, genocide, racism, gender, truth, science, left, right, fascist, nazi, war, peace, invasion, insurrection, terrorist, extremist, national security, misinformation, vaccine, pandemic, emergency, safety, health, normal, sustainable, consensus, trusted, expert, fake news, fact check, common good, happiness, defense…
Out of this babel of confusion, one principle may yet emerge to save the human day:
Do No Harm
This ancient principle applies in every endeavor, from medical ethics to self-government. The core of the physician’s professional duty, it has been replaced by the doctrine of misinformed consent, imposed on doctors by the CDC, FDA, WHO, NIH, and their local certifying boards. At the receiving end are the unwitting or unwilling patients who line up for shots, given no other option but self-harm.

Society has devolved into destroying its citizens in order to defend its institutional aims, entrenching the power of its leaders. Observation of harm becomes forbidden, as it undermines the ruling agenda. Thus, politics kills truth.

Fascism vs. Fascism
That much-misunderstood term, Fascism, properly defined as the merger of state and corporate power, stands as the polar opposite of ahimsa, Gandhi’s guiding principle equivalent to “Do No Harm.” Contrary to popular belief, Fascism was never defeated in World War II. Instead, its adherents were transplanted to the US and kept active throughout Europe (as documented by Matthew Ehret).
Indeed, what could be more fascist than the merger of government and corporate (pharmaceutical industry) power during the COVID coup? Yet the trope of branding all dissenters as “right-wing” continues gaining traction; the latest example being Italy’s new PM, Georgia Meloni.

Into the murky waters of fascist-speak wades Lefty icon Chris Hedges, whose recent commentary on the Italian election illustrates the conundrum faced by a truth-speaker caught between shifting agendas and ideologies. On the one hand, he echoes Matthew Ehret’s historical recap of the fascist threads running right through to the present day. Then he segues immediately into the branding of Meloni: “Fascism, which has always been with us, is again ascendant. The far-right politician Giorgia Meloni…” Hedges’ beef is that the left-leaning liberal class, once the buffer against unchecked state and corporate power, has sold out to the rulers and left a populist void that is exploited by “the rise of neo-fascism and demagogues.” He bemoans this predicament, yearning for the old liberalism: “At the heart of the problem is a loss of faith in traditional forms of government and democratic solutions.” He blames both oppressors and oppressed, Democrats and Republicans, but more so the latter: “The U.S. has its own version of fascism embodied in a Republican party that coalesces in cult-like fashion around Donald Trump, embraces the magical thinking, misogyny, homophobia and white supremacy of the Christian Right and actively subverts the election process.”
It is disconcerting to see Hedges, once a champion dissenter of abuses from a militarized state, give lip service to critiquing that top-down version of fascism, but with more venomous ire launch a broad-brushed attack on the unwashed masses and their chosen leaders who seek to upend the pyramid of power. It appears this aging champion of dissent has sold out to the agenda of his constituency (the old Left and the co-opted liberal class), by reflexively displaying Trump Derangement Syndrome, disparaging conservative skeptics, and resorting to the prejudicial jargon of a Hillary Clinton (“deplorables”), Biden (“semi-fascists”), or Trudeau (“racists and misogynists”) to condemn the disenfranchised peasants.

Metapolitical: Practicing Our Human Future, by Nowick Gray
Facing an accelerating war on humanity, we break free of the narrative box of the old paradigm, and reject hierarchical power, for the sake of our sovereign human future.
It’s distressing to find, in the cause of championing human freedom, infighting among the freedom fighters. Naturally this conflict sabotages the common cause. Factions and prominent advocates accuse each other of being “controlled opposition,” agents provocateurs, dupes, or self-serving egotists advancing platforms of personal gain. Or, as in Charles Eisenstein’s latest screed (There’s No One Driving the Bus), lacking philosophical depth and moral nuance.
In Eisenstein’s view the impulse to lay blame and identify conspiracy is misguided and distracting from the more diffuse cause of our enslavement, our own inability to exercise personal and communal power in our lives. The resulting void, he urges, is more chaos than conspiracy, more abdication than control. But in the conclusion of the essay he betrays the premise by writing, “It takes commitment to renounce the bribes, ignore the threats, and change the habits.” The obvious rebuttal asks, “Then who is offering the bribes and enforcing the threats?”
It is not my intention to join the infighting by slandering Eisenstein, but to challenge his anti-fundamentalism as yet another version of divisive labeling. He opposes the black-and-white dualism of good guys versus bad guys, in the interest of witnessing the whole field of our collective responsibility. Fair enough, as far as that goes. But the firmness of that denial distracts—if I may use the same term in reverse—from the known planning and perpetration of crimes against humanity by those proud to exercise such control at every level of the machinery of power. That the hierarchy is deep and widespread and staffed by human actors who genuinely believe in the goodness of their technocratic cause does not excuse them from blame and responsibility for its deadly and yes, evil consequences.
The Overton window of acceptable discourse has painted “conspiracy theory” in such dark colors that it seems obligatory to refrain from assigning blame to malign actors on the world stage. Professor Mattias Desmet of “Mass Formation” fame is another case in point, taking pains to avoid targeting “evil globalists” and instead looking to more existential causes of our oppression, such as the “free-floating anxiety” that characterizes modern society and makes us vulnerable. Again it’s important, however, to bring focus also to the forces that exploit and capitalize on that vulnerability.
Why does it have to be either/or? Why can’t we assign responsibility both to victims and perpetrators in the injustice being carried out day by day? Maybe it’s because it’s too uncomfortable then to see oneself as a bit of both, victim and perpetrator.
While I agree that it’s too simplistic to blame the CIA, or China, or Bill Gates and Klaus Schwab for all our woes, why bend over backward to absolve them of their well-documented schemes? True, it may be futile to tie the whole black web to a single super Spider; but how can we deny the gorging of global predators at our expense?
I would prefer to take value from the larger perspectives of Eisenstein and Desmet, as complementary to “conspiracy theory,” rather than attack them as dangerous “controlled opposition.” It’s distressing meanwhile to witness such turf warfare being carried out among the rival champions of human freedom. Lately we see venomous attacks on Desmet by erstwhile champions of COVID dissent Jon Rappoport, CJ Hopkins, and Peter and Ginger Breggin. Hopkins in a recent column even vents his ire on his own commenters who dare to defend the thesis that a collective malaise has given rise to the new medical totalitarianism.
To these vocal critics it’s a simple game of power, and if you don’t agree you are at best stupid or worse, part of the problem. Dr. Robert Malone has suffered similar abuse for his advocacy of Desmet’s premise of our collective hypnosis. If you avoid pointing fingers and laying blame at the feet of any chosen autocrats or puppetmasters, say the critics, it’s a crime of omission and in effect you are playing for the wrong team.
I appeal here to the notion of giving credit to both sides. Yes, we are responsible as a collective and as individuals for our own powerlessness. And yes, certain powerful individuals and elite “powers that be” are milking the global population of every ounce of gold and blood possible. Why can’t both these premises be true, valid, and hold weight in our conversations?
Just as there is no settled “Science” to follow in guiding public policy, there is no magic formula to reversing our oppression, held only by the high priests and coaches of “our team.” It’s about Us, and it’s about Them. It behooves us not to stake our tent in one exclusive camp or another, but to seek how we can join forces to improve our precarious human condition, trembling on the web.
