Venerable Alternative Culture Magazine, now twenty-something, has been rebirthed in the spring of 2019 as alternative culture jam. Eclectic like its Cougar WebWorks mothership, ACJam shapeshifts into an array of words and images, sparks of inspiration, ceremonies of discovery, understanding and celebration.
You probably already know what I
do and what I stand for, but just in case…
I write and publish fiction and creative
nonfiction, essays and haikus; I play and share organic and traditional world
music; and I take and share photographs highlighting the beauty of the natural
world. I also monitor and research what is going on in the world,
favoring independent media and commentary. I share my sources, insights and
reflections via social media, newsletters, and online and print publications.
With all of the above I aim to foster a sense of the sacred in nature and
living beings, clarifying core truths of our home in living spirit.
Between the larger worded works (what might be coined ChangeLit), these stopgaps stand like rough stone jetties in an ocean of novelty—daily news like a flood of waves crashing through like Rove said, some generated by his evil machinery hidden somewhere out at sea or undersea or from a remote alien base; some by Gaia herself roiling in wild rebellion and play; some by human joyriders in jet skis and whalewatching boats, in cruise ships and warships, in kayaks and sternwheelers…
Wading into the surf, I cast my words into voiced calls like seagulls overhead, into the winds if for no other purpose but to add to the cacophony; yet also, to make that voice calling in the wilderness of sound come alive in sea spray and common cause… a day otherwise like every other on the beach of our awakening, or demise, yet to be determined.
If my own identity thus becomes fragmented into droplets; such is the fate of the free spirit. If I then collect an essence to deliver to your door in a shapely vial, may we sip to your health. May the elixir of shared truth awaken a common knowing, to throw off the manacles of manufactured illusion, and step forward onto new earth, in new time, open to what our true hearts beat to share with one another.
Thanks for your support!
